THE SMALL PRINT

08/30/2007

I saw this sign the other day on another website. And it has come back to mind a few times. First because I thought it was sort of odd. Then I started to think how this is true in the world today. Especially as Christians, we make secondary issues first. We tell people how horrible they are if we don’t agree with their lifestyle. They may live with their girlfriend or boyfriend, or smoke, or watch rated R movies. And you bet we will shout our disdain at those things from the rooftops. We will protest abortion clinics. We will debate homosexuals and tell them they are going to burn in hell. We lose friendships over political affiliations. We will stomp our feet and pound our fists. But how much effort do we put into sharing God’s love with a broken world? Or does that end up being the small print?

I think Christ would have had a sign too. And it would not have “YOU FILTHY ROTTEN SINNER” written in bold. Christ loves sinners. And his priority is not to tell them how bad they are.

Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” – Luke 15:1-2

Evangelism has never been easy for me. But I pray the Lord will ingrain a love for the lost in my heart. I pray that my main concern is not to point out other’s flaws, but to pour out grace and mercy. God knows I was once a “filthy rotten sinner” myself. And I didn’t come to know Christ because someone sat me down and gave me the 3rd degree. I came to Christ because one day 10 years ago someone thought it was more important to love me than to shun me.

Is the gospel small print in your life?

THOUGHTS ON MINISTRY

08/28/2007

I have been praying a lot lately about how God would want to use me in ministry. These last several months have been very hard on me. I feel like I am about to burst because I desire to be doing so much with the worship ministry. But with the position we are in right now as a family, I need to be putting more time in at my other job.

Like I said, I am praying that God will open up some doors. Chad is optimistic, and thinks we may have 1000 people attending at New Harvest within the next couple months. As for me — who knows — I am confident that God can do anything He wants. I just want to be available.

BLESSED

08/27/2007

We just got back from Seattle last night. We spent the weekend with a church up there. I did a worship concert on Saturday, and then I led Sunday morning too. It was so awesome to get a little trip to refresh my spirit. Sometimes there needs to be a little change up in the routine to revitalize things.

There are tons of things on my heart that I could write about this morning…but I don’t really have the time right now. So I will post later tonight, k?

DIGGIN’ IN

08/24/2007

I have been really jazzed to be spending time in the mornings reading my bible. I am preparing for a class I will be teaching for fullsail starting in September called “The Big Idea”. The object is to hit the whole bible in 15 lessons. It is going to be crazy good! Intense.

Here is a little commercial for you.

YAY FOR MY DAD!

08/20/2007

I am excited that my dad is writing in his blog again. If you haven’t traveled over that way, you can view it at www.grandpasnook.blogspot.com.

In other news, tonight we had a fullsail event. It was sweet to have a bunch of young adults together for a bbq, fellowship, and a movie. Thanks to all of you who showed up!

I am really excited for this next weekend. Kesha and I are heading to Seattle, WA to lead worship at a great church up there. It will be the first “vacation” we have taken since Cohen came.

I wanted to mention how great church was this morning. I really felt like the worship team was in harmony with each other. We were all just worshiping God and focusing on Him. I find it is really easy to get caught up in arrangements, lyrics, or accuracy when I am leading. But God wants me to be worshiping also as I lead. God worked in my heart today. And I know He is using that ministry at the church to bless others as well.

Anyhow, I am taking Riley Rooster (our dog) to the park at 7am. So I should hit the hay.

peace.

NEW FEATURE!

08/19/2007

I must admit I got the idea from the Morning Show on JC1220 am. But I added a new feature to my site. It is called “would you rather”. So answer the question, and tell the world what you would rather do!

So check it out. It is on the right hand side of the page near the top.

If you have an interesting “would you rather” for me to post, leave me a comment or fire me an email.

MISSIN’ MY BABY GIRLS…

08/13/2007

I was excited to get a call from Kesha today. She was at wal-mart with our little coco bean. Apparently she was fussing up a storm, so mommy took her out of her car seat. Immediately she was grinning from ear to ear! And then she started talking at the people walking by. It was so cute that Kesh called to let me hear her. She is such a sweet little girl! I am so impressed by her personality. She has such a great disposition. I love her with ALL MY HEART!

On another note, I realized I didn’t really update on my car accident back in June. Well…I have been seeing a chiropractor 3 times a week for the last couple months, and an LMT 2 a week for about a month. I got an MRI and apparently my L-5 disc is bulging onto my sciatic nerve. At times it can get pretty annoying. Anyhow, just thought I should give a quick update on that.

On even another note, I have a guy who wants to trade me a ps3 for one of my electric guitars. I am considering it (seeing how I NEVER use my electric). It would be fun to have for a month or so, and then sell. We could really use the moolah. What do you think? Does that sound like a good trade?

That’s it for now.
