Artist: Amos Lee
Album: Last Days At the Lodge (June 2008)
My Thoughts:
I jumped on the Amos Lee bandwagon the moment I heard him sing on Austin City Limits. I had heard his name buzzing around before, but never heard any of his stuff. His first two albums were AMAZING! The song you may recognize is “Sweet Pea” (from the AT&T Commercial). This new release is his first since “Supply & Demand” in 2006, and it definitely has a different sound.
I bought the entire album the day it came on on iTunes and, to be honest, at first I was a little disappointed. But I knew that if I would just let the songs marinate for a while it would get better…and MAN did it ever get better! I think this CD has some of his best lyrics.
Musically, the album carries the classic folk sound of his previous releases, but also adds a little more blues and rock. I heard a lot more instrumentation in this album than before. The one musical critique is that it seems to have been mixed with a little too much bass for my taste.
I would recommend this CD to anyone who will give it more than a cursory listen. It takes a few times through the rotation, but comes out as a winner in my books.
Check it out on iTunes »

There is a program called Photoshop Lightroom that I have been using lately. It is great and you can get a free 30 trial here. Here are a few pictures of Co that I have adjusted using the program. They are similar to ones I posted before, but with a twist. Let me know what you think…

Man O Man! Things have been crazy as heck for us lately. I feel like there are so many changes happening in our lives. Kesha and I both are being stretched and challenged in so many areas of our life: as husband and wife, as parents, and as Christians. I feel like this is a season of growth in our lives – and it usually hurts to grow! But I am already seeing the good from it.
Here is a verse that has stuck with me lately. I find myself reading it over and over in my head all day:
“A soft answer turns away wrath
But a harsh word stirs up anger”
- Proverbs 15:1
Wise words for sure. Convicting too!

I heard a quote last week that has really stuck with me:
Temptation doesn’t make you who you are;
It reveals who you are.
This has been a powerful conviction even just this week. There are times when I justify or downplay my actions based on the fact that I was tempted. “I wouldn’t have done that normally — it is only because of (insert temptation here)”. Temptation is just the catalyst to bring out what was already there.
This got me to thinking that I don’t want to just change the things that I do in life – I want to change who I am! I don’t want to delve too deep into into all the implications of this truth, but I thought I would share it with you. A little Monday morning food for thought…
On another note, we found out some old friends of ours are having a baby. We are so happy for them and hope that we can meet the little guy or gal someday..

I was thinking today that some people may be reading my blog and want to have one of their own. The only think standing in their way, is that they have no idea how to go about it. Well, there are several good free blog providers out there, but by far the best way to blog is to purchase some hosting and host your own blog. I have helped several people sign up for blogs, so I thought it would be good to give you a quick rundown.
Step One
Sign up for some hosting. I use Bluehost. I have been with every hosting company under the sun, and nobody has Bluehost beat. The cost is $6.95 per month and that includes all the web space you need to host your blog. In addition to that, you get a free domain name (eg. yourname.com) that you can use as your web address (you can also use it for email: you@yourname.com).
Sign up for BlueHost now »
Step Two
Install your blog. This is usually the difficult part, but with bluehost they have it set up so that you can install your blog with 1 click using their SimpleScripts feature. I use WordPress (so does kesha, randy, jessica, tyler, etc) which is a full featured and simple blogging platform. I love WordPress! Now you are ready to start customizing your site…
Step Three
Choose a theme. There are tons of free themes you can find on the web. I like to design my own, that way I can add a little flavor of my own to the mix. But here is a list of some great free WordPress theme providers:
There are plenty more, but these are some of the best!
Step Four
Log in to your site, and start blogging! Write to your little hearts content!
Congrats! You’re done. Did you know it was that easy?
Blogging is a great tool to share your thoughts with the world. If you need any help with any of the above, feel free to leave a comment and let me know. I have done this so many times now that it is second nature to me. Good Luck!

So tonight I did something amazing. I fixed our car. For some strange reason the brake lights wouldn’t turn off. so I got all underneath and did my magic. I researched the problem on the internet and found out the right parts I needed to work on. I headed to AutoZone and about 30 minutes later we were good to go. For those of you who know my mechanic skills, you know that is a pretty great accomplishment.
On another note, you probably noticed I updated the look of the ol’ blog. What do you think?

I found this fun little formula on a site I like to visit.
Do you know when saw that new band cd and thought: “how in the world did they think of that”? Well, someone out there figured out the equation, and man, it’s really fun.
And what equation is that? Simple:
- 1. Click HERE. The random article title will be your band’s name.
- 2. Click HERE. The last 4 words of the last quote will form the name of your album.
- 3. Click HERE. The third picture, whatever it is, will be your cd cover.
Here’s mine…I sorta like it.
