Another Chapter Passed

10/28/2009

We have been moving to our new house this last week (hence the lack of blog posts). We sold our first home. It belongs to another family now. It is kind of crazy to think that that chapter in our lives is over. Both of our girls came home to 1052 Waikiki. But this will most likely be the home they grow up in.

I love our new home. It is much more “homey”. We’ve already had friends over, our neighbors are great, we live a stone’s throw from the park, and this weekend we are having a bunch of family over. That is something that was hard to do with our old house.

We’re so thankful for this place. Everything was orchestrated perfectly for us to get this home. We sold our house the first day on the market for full price. And we bought our new home for well below asking price (and appraisal price). Our Realtors were awesome. If you need a Realtor, check out Brian and Nina White.

Looking forward to tons of great things in this home…

My Drink Is Killing Me

10/20/2009

Iced Coffee with MilkMy drink at Starbucks for the last while has been the Grande Iced Coffee with Milk. Yummy! The only issue is that I have about 15 of these each week. At 110 calories a piece, that is about 7000 calories each month in Starbucks. Oops!

Today I changed my drink to a Grande Iced Coffee with Skim Milk and 1 Splenda. That comes in at a mere 28 Calories. That is a savings of over 5000 calories per month. That is about 1.5lbs worth of calories shaved off each month. That is 18lbs each year.

I feel better about my coffee addiction now.

What’s your drink worth?

Dreaming Of My Man Cave

10/17/2009

So my wife told me today that I never blog anymore. I think I do, but she doesn’t count my videos and quick posts about funny things I read. So here is something a little more “real”.

We are moving into our new house in a week and two days. It’s crazy! Our new place is awesome, and it is going to be amazing to have a new place to grow our little family. We have been dreaming about all the things that we can do in our new house. We want to host Bible Studies, Baby Showers, Christmas Parties, and all sorts of events. We want our home to be open to all.

One thing I am really looking forward to is my office (a.k.a. My Man Cave). I am finally going to have a room all to myself that I can use to work from. It will be an amazing place of inspiration. I have it all planned out in my head. My guitars will be hanging on the wall; I will have my wide screen monitor set up; I will have some killer speakers to listen to my tunes; and I will have a nice comfy office chair. It will be great! Plus, it will save us money since I won’t have to use Starbucks as my office anymore.

I can’t stop dreaming about it. It’s gonna be great! Here’s a picture of our new place:

Incredible Creative Music Video

10/13/2009

I saw this awesome video today on Chris Brogan’s site. This is incredibly creative! So much time must have gone into this. I think regular people do such a better job than Hollywood at making almost everything.

Check out the band on Sour

Music of the Moment

10/10/2009

Every now and again I like to do a post about the music I have been recently enjoying. There hasn’t been much lately that has really struck a chord with me, but the few artists that I do like really stand out above the crowd.

Joshua Radin

joshua-radinThis guy is super laid back. He is like a mix between Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, and Paul Simon — but a little more modern (but just a little).

Imogen Heap

imogen-heapThis chick is wicked cool! I have seen a couple videos of her playing live and it is awesome. She plays a lot with synth sounds and loops. It is a real treat to watch her play. You can’t really get the full feel on her album. Watching her live is where it’s at.

Colbie Caillat

colbie-caillatI loved Colbie’s last album, but this one is even better. Every single song is great. There are a few that really blow me away. I would check out track #6 “Droplets” featuring Jason Reeves. What a great song! Apparently Kara Dioguardi (from American Idol) helped write a few of the songs too. Great stuff!

Coming Soon

I am really excited for 2 albums that are coming soon. First off, is Dave Barnes’ new album. I have heard a couple snippets on his twit-vid page. Sounds like it will be his best work yet. Also, Marc Broussard has another album on the way. He did a live preview on U-Stream that was pretty cool. Can’t wait for those.

What new music have you been listening to?

Four Incredible Years

10/07/2009

Engagement

It is hard to believe that a little over 5 years ago I was preparing to move to Salem. My plan was to go to Seminary and then move on with my life. Obviously God has other plans. Soon after I moved here I met an amazing woman. She became my best friend almost instantly. I fell head over heels, and I asked her to marry me only months after meeting her. To my amazement, she said yes. And now, it has been 4 incredible years.

We have some serious ups and downs during this time. We have had amazing things happen, and horrible things happen. But through it all, God has kept us together. We have held on to each other through all life has thrown at us. Here’s just a little bit of the last 4 years of our lives.

  • Awesome Wedding
  • Great Honeymoon in Mexico
  • Moved from apartment, to apartment, to apartment, to house (all renting)
  • Bought our first house
  • Gone through several jobs
  • Cohen and Isla were born
  • Riley and Schmeentzy came and went
  • Kesha and I both started businesses
  • Bought our second house (about to move in)

And that is just a small look into the last 4 years!

I can’t wait to get all wrinkly with my wonderful wife. She is truly my best friend and the love of my life.

Happy 4th Anniversary Baby!
