Dog Eats Food

I wish I was this clever…

After our bad experience with the people who brought Riley back after less than an hour of having him (see last post), we got a call from a couple who live out in Independence who wanted to come see Riley. They immediately loved him. They took Riley a couple days ago and he is now happy as a clam. We are so happy for him and for them!
It was so tough to see him go. I would be lying if I said we all didn’t shed a few tears. Cohen screamed her head off when he first left…then we bribed her with a popsicle. She’s still asks for him, but we just tell her that Riley’s out with friends.
He’s a great dog, and now he is with a great family.
This brings the dawn of a new era even closer for us as we get ready to have Isla Reese in about 6 weeks. Our little family is growing and we couldn’t be happier!

We have been thinking of finding a new home for our dog Riley. He is such a great dog, but he has a weak stomach. With a 2 year old daughter it is hard to keep him from picking up her table scraps (or she’ll just feed him her food). And that makes him sick from both ends. Not fun. It isn’t a good situation for him. He’s always getting sick.
We finally decided to put an ad in Craigslist to find a new home for Riley. We got a call in 10 minutes of posting the ad. They came and looked at Riley last night. He put on a great show! Played with them for about 1/2 an hour. They loved him and decided that it would be best to take him today. So we packed up all of Riley’s things, said our goodbyes (cried a little) and I took him out to Dallas (about 30 minutes away). I left Riley with them and said goodbye. It was very sad.
Here’s where the story gets funky. It took about 45mins to get home since I stopped to get Kesha a DQ cone. And a couple minutes after I got in the door the phone rang. It was Riley’s new owners. They said that their apartment building would only accept 15lb dogs. Riley is 17lbs. So they got in the car and brought him back.
So now after all the emotional severance that we went through, we have Riley back after being without him for a whopping hour and 15 minutes.
Maybe it’s a sign that he is ours for good. Who knows?!
Anyway, if you know anyone that would give him a good home (and keep him for more than an hour) please let me know.
