New Things

07/26/2010

There are a few new things going on for me. Life has been moving at high-speed so I’ll just list off a few cool things that have been going on.

  1. I’ve lost over 60 lbs. My weight has been a struggle ever since middle school. Earlier this year I was all the way up to 244lbs. That is just incredible. So I decided to do something about it. I went hog wild, and over the last 3 1/2 months I’ve lost just over 60 lbs. I am now about 180 and I feel really good and  healthy (not to mention DEAD SEXY). ;-)
  2. We went to Canada. We had an amazing trip up to Canada a few weeks ago to visit my side of the fam. It was great to see all of the kids playing together. Cohen and her niece Colleen were pretty much attached at the hip. So glad to see them bonding. We went to the Calgary Stampede and had a bunch of fun while we were there. I wish we lived closer.
  3. I started guitar lessons. I have been in a bit of a musical funk for the past few years. I haven’t played much and have gotten pretty rusty. I started lessons last week with a fella up in Portland who pretty much rocks the show. I learned more in 1 lesson from him that I have in the last year. Awesome! I can’t wait to see how I grow as a musician as I continue to develop that skill.
  4. My new job is in full swing. I have been at my new job for over a month now. My boss told me that they want me to go on full time at the end of my 60-day run. So we’ll be starting negotiations soon. Pray for that transition.

Life is crazy. Life is good. God is wonderful.

Road Trip With The Boys

05/25/2010

I hit the road from Salem on Sunday morning with Chad and Randy and we arrived in Denver last night. We are in town for a Church planting conference. We had a blast on the drive up. We spent yesterday night with some old friends in Boise, ID – which was a huge treat. I love the Norris Family!

Anyway, all three of us forgot to bring any sort of camera other than those on our phones, so don’t expect any great pictures. But we will certainly create a lot of fun memories, and hopefully be inspired by the conference.

We have a free day today before the conference starts. So we’re hitting the town and are going to try to find some fun things to do.

If anyone knows of fun things to do in Denver, be sure to leave a comment.

Bootcamp in May

11/17/2009

So since my last post about wanting some more adventure, I have decided to take a trip to Denver, CO in May for a church planting conference. I am really excited about it. I am going with at least 1 friend, and hopefully we can convince a third to join us.

I am really craving this trip and I look forward to some real man time on the 44 hours we will be driving.

My sister also called me and wants to go skydiving with me. That will be a blast if it ever happens. I am scared spitless of heights, so this would really stretch me. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

Momma’s Flying In

11/04/2009

My mom is going to be visiting for the next few days. She flies in tomorrow from Calgary, Canada. I am so excited for her to see our little Isla. 4 months have flown by and Isla hasn’t even met her Grandma Lisa yet. So fun! It will be nice to spend a few days with my mom.

On another note, I think I need a vacation sometime soon. It is wearing on me.

Enough Already!

05/15/2009

Today we buried my Dad. It was a really hard day. It was just our family and a close family friend. We said our words, cried a lot, and then finally put his ashes in the ground. I don’t know why it was so hard. To be honest, I didn’t even know if I was going to cry. But I balled my eyes out.

I am just glad we have some closure. The next time I come to visit, my Dad will have his head stone set up. It will be nice to have a place to go and remember my Dad.

Classic Laugh

We leave tomorrow afternoon to head back to Salem. I am going to be glad to be done with all this travelling. I miss my bed!

Travelling Thomas’

05/12/2009

Things have been nuts for us this last week. Kesha and I flew down to Texas to spend some time with a great church. It was awesome to see how they are making a huge difference in their community. We spent a measly 23 hours there (6 of which we were sleeping). Our flight home was all messed up and we ended up flying from Dallas to Albuquerque, then Albuquerque to Vegas, and Vegas to home. We didn’t get home until about 1:30am!

I worked the next morning, and then…

Today we woke up at 5am and hopped on another plane to Calgary — this time with Cohen. She was perfect the whole trip. I was sort of dreading it, but the trip really wasn’t bad at all. We are here all week and we will be coming home Saturday the 16th. The reason for the trip (aside from merely visiting my family) is to bury my Dad. Since my Dad died in the winter, it wasn’t really prime time to dig up the frozen ground. So we are going to bury his ashes this Friday. Tomorrow is his birthday; the first since he died. It is going to be a tough weekend for sure!

P.S. I am sorry for being such a crappy blogger lately. There is tons going in our lives. We could really use prayer. God is moving in amazing ways.

Heather’s Come and Gone

04/28/2009

My little sis (Heather) is back in Calgary now. Her trip was short, but it was awesome. We had a great time and I especially loved seeing her and Cohen interact. They definitely have some mad love for each other. Cohen kept asking all night “Where’s Heather?”. Luckily we only have a couple weeks before we go up for my Dad’s interment. Then we will see the whole family up there. Cohen is so much bigger now than in November (when they saw her last). She is a talkaroonie now! I bet she knows over 500 words! She talks in sentences now (sometimes). It’s nuts!

Anyway, here are some pics from the trip!

Lil’ Sis is Here!

04/25/2009

…and we are having tons of fun! The first night we went out for dinner then got a delicious almond chocolate ice cream bar at Costco! They are the most delicious thing ever! Then we got candy and watched “Marley and Me” until 2:30am.

Yesterday we went up for a awesome day at the beach. The weather was perfect! The best part for me was taking my new kite out on the beach. I officially have a new hobby. I can’t wait to get a nice new kite! I bought mine for $6 on clearance. Even still, it was a blast!

Today we are going to head up to Todai. If you have never been there, you are missing out! They have the best Japanese cuisine around. Awesome sushi, all you can eat crab, fresh crepes (made to order), and more desserts than you can imagine. ‘Twill be good!

Anyway, I hope to have some great pictures to post after the end of this adventure weekend. Stay tuned…

A Little Anxious

02/27/2009

I don’t know why, but I have had a little anxiety about my trip to Canada. As I type I am sitting in the airport. My flight boards in about 10 minutes. Kesha and I have been talking about how this trip will go — and I am just unsure. I have anxiety about it. I am just trying to give it over to God and ask that He would lead my words and thoughts as I am up there. I want this to be a time of encouragement and support.

On another note, we haven’t figured out a name for our little girl. Any suggestions would be great!

Mum’s the Word!

07/25/2008

My mom is here from Canada! She arrived a couple days ago and we are having a blast! Tonight we are going to go see Marc Broussard live at the Oregon Zoo. It will be amazing I’m sure! We have some nice plans for the next 5 days too. We are going to go to Seaside to enjoy the beach, Florence to ride the dunes, and Melting Pot for some yummy fondue! I wish my mom could visit more often ;)

Man O man…one thing about having company is that it makes us realize how TINY our house is. We don’t even have 1000sq feet. And that is not much room to share between two parents, an adventurous toddler, a hyper dog, a skitzo kitty, and company!

Sorry for being a lame blogger lately…it has been a VERY hectic season in my life. So please don’t abondon my blog…I promise to write more!
