THIS YEAR IT’S DIFFERENT
Not that I have anything against these things, but don’t you find it interesting that this year our choices for President comes down to these 4 choices:
- A Senior Citizen (McCain would be 80 when he left office if he served 2 terms)
- A Woman (I think…)
- A Black Man (With a Muslim upbringing)
- A Mormon (and savvy business man)
It will be interesting to see how the public responds to these candidates.
Peace.

Muslim upbringing.

I didn’t say he was a Muslim…just that he had a Muslim upbringing. He was raised in a Muslim country where he attended a Muslim school. His parents were Muslim, but are now confessed athiests. I have no reason to doubt that he is as he says a member of the Unitarian church.
Out of curiosity, why do you think he wouldn’t run for office if he was a Muslim?

At this point I would say that someone who is an outspoken Muslim would have no chance winning an election. I’m not saying that is right, just how it is.

I’m not upset or anything really, honestly. I just have heard this Muslim thing and in every case he has denied any Muslim religious ties and talked about his faith in Christ. Now obviously he is liberal in his philosophy of his faith, but I would rather argue about that than his Muslim upbringing. that is all. word.

Me too. My whole point was that we have such a diverse group of candidates this year.

I think it shows that our nation may be making a little progress in not being discriminatory of people regardless of race, gender, age or religion. Far be it though we have a long way to go in treating all people equal. May God help us.
I’m so glad that Christ died for ALL and who ever desires can come to Him. I’m also thankful that God is in control.

So I don’t know if I would say he had a Muslim upbringing, more of non-religious upbringing. Here’s some info about his upbringing and current life. Maybe you already know–but just if anyone else was interested
He lived in a Muslim country during part of his childhood (4 years) and briefly attended a Muslim(a public, general-not religious) school there for but he also attended a Catholic school there. He certainly wasn’t raised a Muslim and he lived the majority of his upbringing in Hawaii. In Chapter 6 of the book, titled “Faith,” Obama writes that he “was not raised in a religious household.” He describes his mother, raised by non-religious parents, as detached from religion. He describes his Kenyan father as “raised a Muslim,” but a “confirmed atheist” by the time his parents met (his father left him when he was 2), and his Indonesian stepfather as “a man who saw religion as not particularly useful.” Currently, he has been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for over twenty years. I saw that you wrote that he was a Unitarian, but that’s a very different church from United Church of Christ. I don’t know if I support Obama for president, just wanted to clarify some things.

That is pretty much what I wrote. Other than the Unitarian thing. But Carson, you are right when you say he is a member of the United Church of Christ.
Isn’t it funny how all the political posts get the comments around here
